Journey to the Top of the Mountain

The last leg of our hike!

I recently traveled to the Smokey Mountains with my family for spring break. On the last day of our trip we went on a hike. We took the Chimney Tops trail which was about 3.8 miles to the top. Our elevations gain was around 1487 feet. At the end of the trail we came upon a rock face one in which you could climb to the very tip top of the mountain.

I began to climb the rocks but paused about midway up. I felt a little intimidated and a little scared being so high up. I wasn't sure I could complete the task. I stopped to rest, as I waited by the rock my husband soon caught up with me. I told him I was going to stop here. He ventured on.

As I observed my husband and the kids scale to the top with ease I began talking with my stepdaughter. She decided to take the plunge and continue her ascent to the top of the mountain. I needed that fearless display of courage from a ten year old to help pull me out of my negative thinking and continue on with the journey.

I began thinking how close I am to the top. I observed my husband and the kids marveling at the view below.

I began putting one foot in front of the other and I continued on. I soon caught up with my husband and the kids. I looked down at all the cars below. I felt so empowered. I could see for miles and the view was breath taking. I had conquered the mountain.

On our car ride home I had 11 hrs to think. I began thinking about my mountain adventure. I have many mountains in my life, ones in which I feel scared or intimidated. My business is a mountain I climb everyday. Someday I am soaring, and I feel like I am on the top of the world, other days I feel defeated or scared to take the next step.

I have come to realize we all need help with something in our lives.

For some, help with organizing is needed. Just as my ten year old step daughter provided a new perspective for me, I can help those who need help with organizing, providing a different perspective. The organizing process can sometimes feel overwhelming, this could be your mountain. You may not be sure where to begin, or you start the process but get stuck along the way and don't feel you can take the next step. Let's take the next step together.
