Two Out of Three Ain't Bad

I have been looking for just the right stools to replace our old stools at the kitchen island. I have been looking for a while. I have seen some I like in stores but they were just way to expensive. So I looked some more. And than one day as I was perusing through Saint Vinny's I came across three stools; $20.00 a piece.

They were sturdy and they had a fun feature built in; they rotate! I was super excited!

They were a little dark. I knew when I took them home I would give them some form of makeover.

I sanded each stool down.

I unscrewed the seats and took of the covers expecting to replace the material on them.

I painted each stool using Annie Sloans Chalk Paint (Pure White) x3

I sanded down all of the bumps, leaving some wood exposed for a distressed look.

I applied a coat of Miss Mustard Seeds Antiquing Wax.

I had some material laying around the house from an old project to cover the new seats with.

I sprayed this material with scotch guard in hopes of preventing stains and spills from absorbing into the seats.

The Before

This is what our kitchen island looked like before I replaced the kitchen stools.

The Stools fresh from St. Vincent Depaul's before the makeover.

The Make Over

The Kitchen Island After

I still have one stool left to finish, but it is close to being done. I love the back support, the comfy cushions and the swivel action the chair provides.

Can't wait to belly up to the bar!
